MaNGOS or Ascent?

Now I have been running a server for about half a year for 5 people and myself and as I have been looking through this forum, I have seen good and bad for both of the two emu main cores. I am curious as to what the supreme best for a fun server is. I have a repack picked out and yes, I know, repacks are for n00bs but thats me so, What would be best to run Spartansp's repackv3? I want it to be able to run WoW 2.4.x. Is there a problem with doing that?

Easy Answer Ascent. Well you'd use open ascent but they are the same thing.

Well if you are running around spawning mobs solo'ing instance's and having GM fun i would say Mangos

But if you want to run a stable blizz like server pick Ascent

MaNGOS definitely.... It is way better than Ascent, believe me mate I had Ascent for like 6 months than I said STOP and I switched to MaNGOS.. it is way better, Battlegrounds fully scripted( AV isn't though but there are patches for it..) Instances scripted, like 95% of them, Quests fully working, what can I tell you else.. It is 99% Blizzlike realm with like 1 bug per 500 quests..

Like Spidey said, try them out and see what you like.
But if you want the most stable, go for ascent and some go with ascent, but other things I would go for MaNGOS.

Its been to long since I tried Mangos to really go into this discussion, but looking at facts:

Mangos, better for smaller servers, perhaps easier, but has allot more bugs (?)
Ascent, just as good for small as giant servers, perhaps harder at some points, but allot better results, and not as many bugs.

Its more what you work the best with, but if you are going to have a big server, I'd say, go with Ascent. BUT; Try 'em both out first.

I have to say, I had both back when the current servers were at 2.1.1 and MaNGOS was a pain in the ass to set up. ascent was like execute two data bases and your done.

I was more curious on how much they have changed.

What ever happened to Antrix? That was my favorite.

Well me personally have tried both Mangos And Ascent and prefer Ascent. But its your server and i think you should try both and choose the one you like from there.
