airport extreme and other questions

Ok so I have been working on a server for about 6 months now and I had one that was public about a month ago. I used hamachi and it worked. I am trying to get away from hamachi so that others do not have to download it in order to get to my server. I have a pc but the computer that the router is set to is a mac. the router is also an airport extreme and so all of the guides that are there to help get a server public without hamachi are all for non-mac computers and routers.


Any help would be great.

i dont have any issues with the forwarding of the ports, its after that into the steps where you get into the system32 file editing.

What, the hosts file?
It's only needed if you want to connect to the server locally.

Spidey, I actually never knew that! Thanks loads - I have always been doing the hosts edits on my dedicated computers (that i don't play on) because I thought it was nessesary.

The hosts file is just a bypass to the DNS, so instead of your pc asking the DNS server, "what's wow.com?", the pc just looks at the hosts file and goes, "A-ha! wow.com is just 127.0.0.1!".

Do you know of any guide for the OS X version of the non-hamachi public server creation?

well if you have not noticed, i lack a good bit of common since. sorry mate. i mean I do try to figure a bit of this stuff out but i have never used a mac before and my father just had to get one for video editing and he made it the internet host off of the router. I do much better with a pc.
