A few questions

I was looking through a tutorial about setting up a private server without Hamachi the other day, and I couldn't help but notice the tutorial had said it wasn't going to explain how to do it with a wireless router. I just had a few questions regarding using a wireless router to host a private server without hamachi.

1. What's the risk of hosting one using a wireless router without hamachi?

2. Is it possible to host one using a wireless router? If so, how can I do it?

And a question not regarding wireless routers...

3. Can a person with the trial version of WoW play on a private server?

4. How can I replace a questgiver if their quest happens to be broken because so far the Orc/Troll starting areas have no quests since I can't pick any of them up from the guy near the campfire.

Yes you can play on a private server with a trial wow. Just change the realmlist.wtf.

figured as much, but when my friend tried to play it using the trial (pre BC) it came up with an error saying he needs the retail version of the game. Note that the server I am running is a burning crusade server so is there anything I have to fix so he can play?

I dont think so, unless you just copy the "WoW.exe" in to your Trial WoW folder, but i doubt it will work.. But try

I tried doing that and it said that he now needed the burning crusade. There has to be a way to switch different types of account (BC, Pre-BC, etc)

If you are using Mangos then in the mangosd dos window type for his account

create username password (change to his real name & password)
setbc username 0

this will stop him needing BC installed.

If you are using Ascent, then edit his character table to have 0 in allow expansion.

thanks, I logged onto his account and he can't make blood elves or draenei, so so far it's worked =)

To make so you can create BE and draenei, (if you want it) just change the flag on the account to 8
