And really the knowlage that youve done somthing amazing, youve created a blizzlike db that is as good as blizzards, I think that is a fine reward.

Notice how all the people posting this stuff are loosing bigtime in popularity polls. They also don't have the correct staff. There is one person I know is good from PSDB, Latruwski, thats it :P

yup, people are greedy(and im not saying im not, cause i am ) its as simple as that. true there are thoes who do want to do it for the common good but not many, and not enough to pull through with this.

What has PSDB got to do with anything? Please stick to the subject. SectorSeven. It seems you're here for the wrong reasons, you just want fame and reputation. We want a good database.

Every server is unique in different ways. So if there was one big database that everyone worked on then a lot of servers would become the same and lose their uniqueness which makes that server popular and fun.

Many people make servers for the $$ and you will be putting them out of bussiness lol?

Many databases have donations going towards them. So with no leader there will be fights over the $$ and then if like you suggested Burlex gets all the cash ( Some would go back into the database and the other things and that ) But some will be Burlex's as well. Which means the team would get nothing. Unless you want to split $10 up between at least maybe 20 people from what you are suggesting.

i think a little competition is nice ^^ DBteams work better, faster to beat other teams etc... that makes things fun :P
This is how it started (seperated teams) and i am sure it will always be like that ^^

same question: why dont ascent/mangos/kobold/wcell/ .... together? In real life its also like that.... thousands of companies producing exacly the same and one trying to do better then the other

ascent, mangos, wcell etc are not able to work together, they are different. databases however have the exact same structure, the same guide and whatever..

I wouldn't say loosing if you see what progress emulators made since wowemu on 1.12 or first TBC emulators...
Ascent and mangos are looking like brothers... not the same but not totally different... emulators can't work together nor can databaseteams...
No competition = less fun if you ask me...like in real life... no competition in economy = fail.
And well if you see how much Dbs just copy paste NCDB (for example) and add some minor fixes and give it a new name... bah

Competition is and will always be good... btw ascent, mangos and wcell or maybe kobold would be able to work together..a lot of devs changed from one project to the other... like aceindy (our server admin) he was developing hackpatches and lots of stuff for wowemu and then kobold and now he is doing ascent. He keeps getting ideas from kobold, mangos and other emulators too... checking their code etc... after all every single programming language is based on one thing: logical reflecting

I had this idea long long long time too... but as i talked to more and more people of different projects and to other people, i realized that competition is good, even in databaseteams

Well a lot of people are thinking about this... this is what i think.

Competition is what ruins things, we are still behind blizzard. We may be doing better than before, but we still aren't at blizzards standard. Competition is what causes **** ups.

People at least need to learn to communicate properly.

People may copy and paste from NCDB and add to it, did they not fix something NCDB had wrong? This is my exact point. People are already doing it on a small scale, just a few people adding the best they can to the existing best database. We should do this on a mass scale, there is still some competition as in the first to fix and finish something that is wrong.

Some sort of leader board thing could be made, for each fix submitted by a team/person they get a point. People just compete over the top position.

Happy? There is the pointless competition you want, the lack of social problems SS wants, the best database we all want.
