there, ip should be 75.126.214.115, which should reverse resolve to koro.wowscape.net, if you do a forward lookup on koro.wowscape.net it should return 75.126.214.115, which is also the webhost for wowscape.net

remember kids, ip spoofing can't be done beyond the syn stage, (except with arp poisoning, which you can't do on the net:P) so its impossible fake an ip for a full connection

correct, however the license wasn't in my name, they'd been bitching about it for a few months and i wasn't gonna waste 150$ on another license, and likely have them pull the same shit again. (eventually they sent a dmca notice, so i just figured screw it after that)

i've got a copy of the db on my local machine now, when i get some free time, i'll convert it

Gast finally for that rule, there are so many pointless threads about it. And good for burlex to keep it, there are so many people who don't appreciate the work thats involved with creating Ascent or any emulator

none of these are true.
they have it because i'm good friends with the staff there, they're the official server for ascent, and i manage their servers. they're the reason ascent is so stable.
it'll go public eventually when the community stops being asshats. (if people have paid attention i already merged up to r38, the last 2.3 rev from my svn into public trunk, stability is ****ed because of aceindy though)

by asshats, i mean people coming in irc saying "burlex GIVE ME 2.4 SO I CAN MAKE $350". like yeah. totally. what work did you do to deserve profit from this stuff?

yes, I have had offers in the $2-5k range for 2.4 sources, no, I have turned every single one of them down. If I needed money, I would sell the emu.

Way to go burlex. I think most are ass-hats too. After all it is your work that has made most of this posible. And as far as you release it, I'm just waiting. And if you think I'm just waitting for the fun of it, NOT. My server has just about dead cause of the 2.4 patch.

well as most of you might know there are a good amount of rumours out on ascent atm. and i just want to know which ones you guys think are real, which aren't.

Current Rumor List: (add more if you like)

rumor 1: Burlex was payed $10,000 dollars from WowScape to give them 2.4 working branch and work for them.

rumor 2 (almost in line w/ #1) WowScape payed burlex amount to give them 2.4 and to NEVER release 2.4 to the public.

rumor 3: Burlex will be closing down ascent, and keeping 2.4 private for WowScape

rumor 4: Burlex will only be releasing compiled Bins from now on


again like it says...these are ALL RUMOURS the validity of these are up for debates. so this is where this thread comes in. just discuss WHAT you think is true/false and some evidense.

Burlex HAS to release the source. HE HAS TO DO IT. There is no if, buts or maybes. Ascent is liceansed under the GPL, and it is against the license to keep the source to yourself.
