    WoW 'Large Address Aware' Patch

WhiteKidney requested this but now he's offline and I'm too lazy to chase him about it so I'm posting it here. It's just a copy of WoW.exe, modified to enable large address support[1].

From memory he was using it when forcing the graphical settings like draw distance well beyond their 'normal' limits. The reason the patch is necessary is to allow WoW to use up to 4GB of memory under 64-bit versions of Windows, rather than the standard 2GB (as this is not enough when you turn up some of the graphical settings).

Not sure if this will break anything, or even work as intended (depends how WoW has been coded). Enjoy.

    EDIT:

Safe to use, as confirmed by Blizzard's tech support team:

-.- even though the virus scans are in the rules, they are pointless!

Download it and scan it without running the exe first and you will be fine!

Using a online file scanner it just a waist of time.

    Anyway Cypher good job +Rep

EDIT: Just tested, It works. Although alot better than I expected! (20fps -> 36fps) Win7 x64 Windows Experience Index(2.7); yeah my system sucks!

Hmm, I don't think I want to let WoW eat up 4gb of VA space when I'm running 5 copies at once I only have 12gb of RAM (although xmas is coming... maybe 24gb is in the works...)

    Cool mod tho.
    Don't believe everything you think.

New build for v4.0.3.13287. Also disabled the signature check on the binary as changing the large address flag already destroys the file's integrity, so the check is pointless and only serves to cause false-positives in AV software (as Greyman has reported).

I have been playing with this flag for some time since 2.4 or so, doesn't seem to effect much imo + warcraft apparently "learns" texture cache rules and adjusts pre-allocated memory for them in VRAM so thats pointless. May help with file operations but I highly doubt that unless someones running the game off a SSD.

Also you can do this with CFFExplorer suite if you don't want to wait for updates, or even make a batch file to do this if you have visual studio installed.
