    Extracting data from MPQ

    Hello there,

    1. How do you guys extract data from MPQ nowadays? As far as I know MPQEditor was able to read files until BC but what's with WOTLK? Is it still possible to read with the StormLib.dll?
    2. Is it even possible to use XNA's Vector3/Vecto2 to do transformations on data extracted from MPQ? I am asking because WoW's coordinate system is weird.

    1. StormLib does work, yes. I believe there are also several C# wrappers for it.

    2. It is possible, yes.

Am I doing s.th. wrong or why there are .blp files everywhere instead of .adt?

*.blp files are textures if memory serves. There is a lot of content in the various MPQ files, look around and you will find *.adts. /world/maps/kalimdor has some. Can't remember what MPQ file it is in. Maybe common...

It is also important to select the right MPQ to read from. Obviously this means identifying which locale to use, but it also means picking which MPQ from within the locale directory. The same file can exist within different MPQs. Generally the easiest way to pick the most current one is to start checking each MPQ for the file in question in reverse alphabetical order.
