I'm having a bit of problems with grasping the idea of how LuaDostring returns it's results.
Lets say I call RequestTimePlayed and in game it returns a formatted string. Where exactly is this string stored and how do I go about retrieving it? My understanding was that the values were stored in Lua's virtual stack, but are those values actually being popped off before I can actually read them?
I've been doing some reading and I see that people use the ToString method, where State (pointer to Lua's virtual stack???), an index, and length is passed to it. Is this the right method to be using? Or is there another way of retrieving the return value.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.
