Trying to clarify how bots work these days

Hey guys, I am back to wow after almost 2 years.

Back in that they I helped Rebot with profiles and was one of the first users. It was so good, I wish they were still available.

But what is bugging me is that as I read more about botting here I get more confused. And I there is not a place where I can just know everything about botting.

As far as I have researched there are some paid ones like HonorBuddy, TheNoobBot and SoapBox.

But I also see people talking about rotations, unlockers, and other stuff like Chimpeon...

I wish that someone could clarify me... What are rotations? Is it just the keystroke order?


And another more direct question: what are my options if I want to just leaver my toon leveling up archeology for like 3 hours or playing BG for example?
What is recommended these days?

Chimpeon = key stroke recording software; pretty pointless imo. Tons of setup for minimal output

SoapBox = uses a memory exploit to unlock protected functions and builds LUA scripts to cast spells for your character, rotations specifically. Mostly used to raid proficiently

HB/TheNoobBot = entire frameworks that can automate movement, rotations and much more; often use for gold making and automating mass accounts to earn profits.If you bot, you'll be banned eventually.

ONLY bot for profits, no longer is it safe to even fathom botting for fun. I would use Honorbuddy for any sort of automated character stuff, it's the best out there.

Chimpeon isn't a bot - just an auto clicker. The difference being it doesn't mess with game memory, cpu processes or files, whereas a true bot will.

It's not pointless in my opinion as I use it a lot for farming mobs, performing high end DPS rotations, preventing afk, and a load of other things. Most importantly, it is safe to use (or at least much safer than a bot)! There's no way I'm risking a ban again. Happened to me using a bot over a year ago that's why I moved over to an auto clicker.

As for what a rotation is... it is a sequence of spells performed in a particular order to produce the "best" dps or hps. I use Chimpeon with the TellMeWhen addon. TellMeWhen indicates when a spell should be pressed. Chimpeon presses it for me Simples!!

As for performing actions like levelling archaelogy or automated battlegrounds, you're going to need a true bot. Chimpeon won't cut it with those activities.

Yes, obviously you like it because you started the thread here pitching it to everyone.

I'm stating the non-biased approach for what he wanted. He asked to farm archaeology and battlegrounds; I would never suggest using a keystroke mapper to do either of those things.

Yes it is true that eventually you get banned. In my case I never got banned. Just a soft ban for like 72h, cant remember.

Anyway, I think that for automatic pathing and stuff like that would be my goal. Just like Rebot. Someone write a profile and let it be available for everyone that wants to farm a specific area, achievement or perk.

But is seems that Chimpeon would be very good in the pointed out case like automatic keystrokes for higher DPS.

Using bots is extremely unsafe. It's not a question of "if" you will get banned, it's about "when" you will be banned. So don't do it on any account you care about. Only bot for profit as in make dedicated boting accounts for farming gold either to launder over to a real character, or to sell for real world currency.

Or you can just use PixelMagic which is addon based and out of process it reads screen pixels and is free does rotations a lot better than chimp since it's made for wow has many many sample rotations and bullshit on the ban thing blizzard can't and will never detect pixel reading bot.

I don't see blizzard rewriting wow from scratch to use the same protection software as overwatch and until they actually ban a wow player for a pixel bot I disagree. One of my friends has been using fishbot.net since it came out many many years ago without one ban
also eu law forbids them from scanning processes. and even if they do how they going to scan a process running as admin when wow is a limited user? Yes they will see the process name bur they can't query it for other details like original file name etc or md5 sum it. But since it's a different name on every pc what they gonna scan for?

I think you can get banned from pretty much everything, blizzard is a bunch of sneaky people

Blizzard don't have the bandwidth to waste on scanning 10 million players for add-ons that look odd. If they did NerdPack would have had bans by now - and keyboard sending of keystrokes is indistinguishable from actual keyboard keypresses else all Multi-Boxers would be banned long ago.
