    How to bot properly?

So, I recently picked up the 3 day trial of Honorbuddy to see how I like it.

And I was wondering, what is the best way to bot, with the lowest chance of getting banned?

I already know not to be unrealistic, such as letting it run for hours on end - something a person couldn't possibly do.

Currently, I am using a Starter Edition account (because it would be a shame to lose 7 years of work on my main account)
And I am also using a VPN for good measure (www.privateinternetaccess.com)

So, any suggestions for me? Are there better bots out there? Mostly looking to keep it legit looking, maybe use it to just level some characters - I like most of the stuff in this game, but after leveling 12+ characters it's really a grind now.

I've been told that it's safer to bot smart and not use VPN

Define "bot smart"? Is there a certain way to run the profiles? I know that you shouldn't run it for unrealistic amounts of time, like no longer than say, 3-4 hour intervals.

    Botting Smart:

    • Don't bot/play more than 8 hours in a day. Make it look as if a real person is playing. In other words, don't bot all night while you sleep then hop on and play like you're a real person. That raises flags.
    • VPN's :: I've mentioned it before, but they can tell when you're behind a VPN. It's like going into a bank with a ski mask on. It's not like you're looking to rob the place, but you'll sure as hell look shady
    • Have a goal to work towards. Do you want more gold? Bot for gold in mind. Do you just want more alts? Bot and invest in leveling perks (better gear, heirlooms etc).

    Those are some basics.

What if you bot/play more than 8 hours, but make it seem realistic - like not consecutively, but say, 2 hours with a break, 3 hours with a break, etc.

It's a consistent rule I use, it's not like blizzard watches you and has a count down. It's sort of a roundabout timeframe I use to make sure my bots stay alive as long as possible

Dont keep a rigid schedule. I made that mistake of doing very timed 3 hour botting sessions with 1 hour log off breaks on five separate accounts. Four got banned (Also never botted during night time). Let loose and really just act as 'normal' as a bot could get.

So, bot for as long as I would play normally? Like, 2 or so hours with a few hours in between as a break?

I would bot 8 hours straight with some custom afking/waiting etc. So yes, bot as human like as possible.

I am new to Honorbuddy, so how would I set it up to take breaks? I remember botting RuneScape back in the day (RS2 I think? Not RS3 or 07scape) and the NX client I had you could set up randon interverals. Like bot for 2 hours, break for like 17 minutes, bot for 4 hours, break for 48 minutes, etc.

Is there something like that in Honorbuddy? Or is there a better bot available?

    Edit:
Also, is babysitting recommended? Should I be at my computer while botting, maybe keep WoW in a windowed mode that's small enough to monitor while keeping resource usage to a minimum?

You can use HBRelog to set up random wait times etc, it's a seperate program available at The Buddy Forums.

Babysitting is ALWAYS recommended, bearing in mind that wow has to be windowed but NOT minimized for HB to work anyway.

I figured as such. I was mostly watching Netflix while using it in a smaller window that I could pause and monitor it from time to time.
And thanks, I will look into that.
