What coding language should I learn to create WoW Bots?

Hey guys, the title pretty much says it all, Im wanting to learn to code bots, to someday code a private bot of my own. Im wondering where I should start. I would want to make something such as honorbuddy (I will never code anything as good, I know, just the same functions)

    Thanks for the support!

honorbuddy is done in c#. @OP realistically you should know the basics of C++ and ASM. Then use any managed language for the actual bot logic.

While your intentions are great, you wan't to make your own bot, without any working knowledge of a programming language you are months (of extremely dedicated studying) if not a year away from actually being able to do anything truly useful.

If you have no interest in programming and are doing this because you don't want to pay for a bot (pvpTool is great), you are making a REALLY bad decision.

I'm going to assume you have very limited development experience.

With some concessions, it's doable: you can learn c#, and use someone else's library, with your bot running out of process. You'll have to accept:
    • If the library gets abandoned, your bot is finished
    • On patch day, your bot is finished until when/if the library developer decides to update their library
    • You're not going to interact with the WoW screen... any visualization of your bot is in their own application window
    • You're not overly attached to you account, because you don't know how the library, wow, or warden works

I don't recommend that route, but I think it's your only option. The goal of a private bot won't be enough motivation alone to learn what is necessary otherwise.

But that's just game-hooks... let's say you had a team that did all that stuff for you, and gave you every little bit of information inside wow, and did so with perfect reliability. The logic, control, and interface alone can quickly turn into a team-scale project. It's a labor of love.
