It should work, the registry entry that it is changing is covered on the microsoft website. Its perfectly safe, and should help out somewhat.

I personally tweaked it manually within my registry, I didn't want to download the file that seems to have way too much coding for what it is necessary to do.

But what I did works very well:

Open your registry (start, run, Regedit)

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, MSQM, Parameters. Make sure Parameters is highlighted then right click and select "New, DWORD VALUE" and name it "TCPNoDelay" without the quotes and put 1 as the value.

Next, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, System, CurrentControlSet, Services, TCPIP, Parameters, Interface. There, you will see keys with random names, check them all until you see the one that shows your IP address, then right click on that key's name and hit new, DWORD value and name it "TcpAckFrequency" without the quotes and add 1 as the value.

Then, close the registry, reboot your computer and enjoy
