They are bad because:
Well known bottin areas - higher chance of getting banned
chances of more botters in one area is high - specially with omwgirls 1-60 profiles

Private profiles are good because:
you tweak them to your needs
You decide where it should go
Less chance of getting spotted as you decide the path

You need to make them yourself.

I have been using Glider since it started and i have only been banned once (it was because of software detection in a massive banwave) . If you get banned for botting then its a guarenteed permanent ban .

What does actually Blizz do when they suspect someone to be a bot?
Wisper them?
Teleport them and see if they continue?

If they are not 100% sure then yeah they can whisper and/or teleport but usually they teleport first and then blame the teleport on lag if you ask them (which is one of the reasons why i never glide while AFK) .

Alot of ppl say that if you ever get whispered, your pretty much SOL, more often than not, if they whisper you it's to late. This Zarborough guy,(which i think is actually just the name they use to search for botters) sometimes has a tendancy to say stuff like "Y helo Thar!" then he bans you......

GMs are people like you and me , some of them will be more competent at their job than others and some will show more or less interest in their job as well . Most GMs will go by the TOS but some more careless GMs will simply ban to be "ban happy" and feel better about themselves , but a good GM will personally investigate before baning a Botter and not just instant ban whenever a report is sent . The private investigation could go from a simple teleport and then watch the reaction and/or a whisper (some can even change into a rabbit critter and seem invisible (or simply go invisible)) only to watch your grinding patterns , but if you are a botter and a GM sees a report made about you while you are offline then the GM will most likely have a look at your key mapping config and you can be sure that he/she will know exactly how the standard Glider config is , so expect an instant ban at times like those .

Merc (Glider designer) has released the new version of Glider now and it is undetected so have fun Gliding .

Thanks for all the info Piggy. Do you know how to enable shadow mode AND still control Glider? Upon enabling it for 1.4.2 it isn't functional it seems.

My $0.02....I don't personally bot so take this with a grain of salt...just wanted to contribute something to MMOwned. Should be pretty common sense, but common sense isn't too common these days.

1: Don't Glide a Hunter. Hunters are PvE easy mode as we all know. Low downtime+low gear dependency+fast killing=efficient Gliding. Resist the temptation. 90% of the time, when I spot a botter, it's a Huntard. The popularity of Hunters as a botting class has made many players automatically suspicious of the class. I've had mine questioned by other players while doing something as simple as grinding murlocs on the coast of Westfall, and I was manually playing the character. The other 10% of botters I spot seem to be about 4% Warlocks and 4% Rogues, with the other 2% being other classes.

2: Faction. Spend some time questing and gaining rep with some factions. It's really not difficult or time-consuming, and it could save your a$$. With the Armory being added, many players will check your profile if they see you and suspect you of botting. If you have no faction, it's a dead giveaway. Bam! Reported.

3: Skinning. For god's sake, if you're going to Glide an area with skinnable mobs, be sure your skinning skill is up to the level required for those mobs. Besides being profitable to have, it's going to look mighty suspicious if your character is grinding in an area that is known for being a good leather supply and you aren't skinning your kills. I once followed a Hunter(big surprise there!) for 4 hours in Winterspring, just skinning the Yetis he killed. He never responded to my whispers like "thanks for the free leather, botboy" or anything like that. Which leads me to:

4: Chat/whispers. Don't Glide while totally AFK unless you have a pretty good proggy running to autoanswer chat messages and whispers. This is another of those dead giveaways to suspicious players. Generic responses are just as bad, if not worse than no response at all. If I ask someone a question and I get a response about the weather, I know it's not a human at the helm.

Like I said above, this should all be common sense. But the average WoW player is a moron, and so is the average Glider. If one of those average Gliders stumbles upon this gem of a site and is saved by advice given here, we've done our job.
