The hell are you talking about? This game will not have a subscription fee. All that is required is for you to sign in with your Battle.net account so offline play is not an option (without circumvention of course).

I cannot express by words how much I am looking forward to finally play this game...
Diablo was my childhood and Diablo 3 looks pretty damn good...
IMHO there will be none monthly subscription, but if there was, I would be more than happy to pay anything they ask...

NP Esko, glad you enjoyed it! But yeah, I don't think they will be adding a subscription fee, if you check out the forums, and do a quick search there might be a blue post who confirms that they won't be having a subscription fee, it's gonna be like starcraft. Hopefully they keep it like original Diablo where you join servers and stuff, and keep it so they don't have a fail economy like they did after so long lol, and people started using forum gold. Cross our fingers!
