It seems dumb to me....
TBH I thought that at first too but then I realized I could play unaffected and the game would receive a whole lot more members meaning more people to play with!![]()
I don't think a whole lot of people were staying away from LOTRO just because it was Pay2Play. Most people tried it and then went back to WoW etc... I don't think we'll see anything major.. Maybe some old LOTRO players will come back to the game.
Well I mean we'll see people who only play free to play mmos join lotro. And some people who play WoW and heard bad things about lotro probably didn't want to spend money on it but now they can try it for free. (Even though there was a free trial XD)
Well I'm going to try it, want to see how they moved Tolkien's world into a MMO, can be nice if done correctly.
I'm curious on how this will affect other MMO's. Well they finally go free too?
Played it a few years ago, got to level 50. Its a nice game, but the end-game felt like there was something missing. Might go back and try again when it becomes FtP![]()
I will definately pick this up again, used to play it before but quit as I had to pay the monthly subscription and I just didnt felt it was worth it.
At the very least, for the moment, I see Blizzard ramping up their blizzard store for WoW. While I don't think we risk seeing them selling gold and epics, YET, I do think they'll offer more things like the celestial steed.
It wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard eventually allows people to do F2P on WoW, but hopefully with a restriction on levels. Something like "You can only play Vanilla WoW for free. Expansions require a paid account."
