What is the point of having a bot account?
This may be a dumb question but I keep seeing people saying they have 5+ accounts which are used on bots or whatever. My question is why have an account just for the purpose of botting? Is there a way to transfer pokemon you catch on that over to your main I don't know about? Or is it future hoping that trading comes in down the line?

To test, whether it's possible.
To brag/show off
To sell
To have some spare, in case some get banned
To take over gyms
on and on and on
There are so many reasons.
The real question is, why would you NOT bot?

Even with the gym system rigged as it is? You can easily beat a >3000CP Dragonite just by choosing a critter with an advantageous type and move-set. Without it, you have six critters on your disposal so you can brute-force it. You can attack with a group of allies using none of those things and take-down any gym in the world. A botter either never returns to a gym he GPS-spoofed to or gets bored eventually. Naturally, there are vicious idiots out there.
The real question is - why would you even need gyms? The rewards are not worth the effort anyway. Just like any other thing in this game, in fact.
You want to know why I bot? You can freely add these to the Ripper3 list:
- The game crashes every now and then. I still crash whenever I encounter a Grimer.
- 100xp per any catch? Are you ****ing serious? >2000CP I spend a hundred balls on is worth the same as 10CP? And they jump and lunge at you constantly... stupid cheap tricks that just annoy you and serve no practical purpose. And I curve ball + gain another bonus most of the time.
- You spend 80% of time watching animations anyway, why the hell do you need to see all your 1000 Weedle evolves?
- 90% of the game is just a stupid mini-game. You're throwing balls, good for you. Very fulfilling.
- Brutal administration/bad UI. Most of the things can be easily automated, but the game forces you to do each repetitive task manually. Plus a dozen of those stupid pop-ups, Jesus...
... and just so much more. This is a bad game, there's no escape from it. However, I did want to see how things look like post-level-30. I still like choosing a specific Pokemon to beat another with an advantage (just today my 91 Tentacool beat 183 Rhyhorn in training for +1000, and I'm level 33!). I still like going from point A to point B doing stuff in-between. And I didn't want to spend months of useless work getting all that.
So, why don't you bot? What keeps you going on?

I guess I see it from a test idea and so on, and actually the selling thing I never considered to be honest so guess that's fair. If I did create one it would I guess be with the hope that it doesn't get banned and trading comes into play at some point soon, don't think I'd use it for the gym taking/selling point of view.
As for the game being poor, it's ultimately just a game that is a bit of fun in my view. It hits the nostalgia button a bit, quite social and fun during the summer. Yeah it's not the most sophisticated game but I think it's good enough for mild enjoyment. It's one I can keep going back to rather than finishing it and never touching it again

id rather go fishing than play pokemon go. Actually, id rather do both at the same time. They are equally boring. maybe watch some golf, that will help
