Why is it possible to spin a Pokestop 40 times to get a softban removed?

Wouldn't this be really easy to fix and hurt botting hard? So you'd have to actually be careful about using bots and not going too fast/jumping around?

It just seems so odd, that it's possible to remove a time ban.

We are less than 1% of the pleyer. They are working on more important things like tracking system for pokemon

Apparently you can get yourself unbanned by spinning a pokestop 40 times. You can use Quickspin or try doing it manually if you don't trust Quickspin.

here's my theory:

i always had a feeling that the "softban" always has been just some sort of mechanism to prevent pogo server from being flooded with "pokestop hit" transactions, based on a formula/table of how much time duration would be "reasonable" for travelling certain distance. It was never a "ban" that targets players/bots/spoofers. That's why there are stories people get softbanned when they hit pokestops in a fast car. Would Niantic consider them as spoofer and ban them, or flag them for perm ban if those people got softbanned in a fast car? Probably not, people with cars are people who will buy Niantic's microtransaction stuffs. Same thing with people and fast planes ).

So in order to switch off that mechanism in case of the fast car/plane scenario, so those people can play again, Niantic implemented a hidden feature like spin pokestops 40 times to get rid of that "softban". First spin reduce "softban" duration by x seconds, next spin reduces by x + 20 seconds, next spin reduces x +100, and that goes up till a certain point then that spin would just remove the whole softban together. Why? Because spinning and spinning again is what normal people would do when they can't get the pokestop to work after they spent time and effort getting to that pokestop.

That also helps explain why some people spoof location from USA over to Tokyo, get softban, but were able to remove what is supposedly 10+ hours ban with 40+ something spins.

so on that note, softban to me doesn't look like something that would flag you for permanent ban

on the other hand, IP ban and Device info would likely flag you, as they were added with the purpose of targeting botters/spoofers
