Is it safe to bot higher levels?

I noticed a gamer reached level 30 in pokemon and he had his name in the paper. It makes me wonder if it is safe to bot to 30 or higher in Pokemon Go.

Don't know, I'm 28 now and you can't say for sure until the first ban wave arrives.

Most of the people I have met playing this game just want to try to get to lvl 20 at this stage of the game. I can get to lvl 25 in one night with the Spegelli bot. All of the gyms in my area are easy for a lvl 22+ character. So, I am not sure if I want to go any higher than 25-26. In fact, when people see my character lvl on a gym, they want to know who has a lvl 26 trainer in this game in our town.
