Isn't that obvious? Bots are detected because they act like robots. You can't make them 100% human. I think there is a deeper secret behind all of this. Ever since the day the guy who made Necrobot, Niantic probably questioned him on how to detect bots.

You keep the bot running for a few hours, then, the next day, you restart with the same coordinates. The bot follows the same path as last time, again and again. So, Niantic should be able to view who is using a bot.
And, anyway, is either possibile that the bots using the API are detected and flagged.
P.s: Greetings from Italy and sorry for bad english. ;D
No, bots are detected because they use Broken API protocol that sends differents answer for requests to the Niantic server, read the forum it's already explain why for exemple in this thread : How ban works

simple explanation why bots are detected
Niantic pokemon go apk (client) send to niantic api server = apple, grapes, pineapple, strawberry, orange
Bot send to niantic api server = apple, grapes, coconut, mango, ,orange
see the difference? its looks like that,
they receive different answer from bot api to niantic api server, and someties bot api sends empty response
hope everybody will understand,, its not about your doing 20kmh in mall, not humanize setting bullshit, its a another fact, but not the major reason of ban

it doesn't matter if you're waking 1 kmh or 1000 kmh, settiing the distance for 1 cm or 10000 km, running the apps for 1 second or 24 hours, they know you're botting since the first time you loggin on to the game.
Go check How to find and check my IP address and see how fast the collecting info from your browser, just a browser. now imagine what pogo app collected from your device!
pogo official app sending : 123456789
pogo emu (nox/bluestack/etc) sending : 1a2b3c4d5e
pogo bot sending : abcdefghij
or you want detail technical explanation? here :
[Issue] Fix protocol API. Current public Rocket API / FeroxDev is completely broken. * Issue #265 * NoxxDev/NecroBot * GitHub
[Issue] Fix protocol API. Or Niantic keeps banning users of 3rd party apps. Current public Rocket API is completely broken. * Issue #293 * NoxxDev/NecroBot * GitHub
[Issue] Protocol API still broken. Niantic can still identify 3rd party app users. * Issue #336 * NoxxDev/NecroBot * GitHub

Sounds strange, been botting all days, even after ban waves, never got banned. The point is very simple, i'm not overdoing it. They must have me flagged, since the bot uses another api and they know that, but i think they're putting more effort on those who are trying to get too much exp/pokemon.

First many people said bla bla I'm still botting since banwave but don't show any proof so for me that's fake until you prove I'm wrong.
Second Niantic is banning by waves so maybe you think you've been lucky or something like that but don't trust that, when your account is flagged for using cracked API you'll be banned that's just matter of time, actually absolutely no one survived to all banwaves and are still botting so no, that's not strange, Niantic works like that.

problem with the API is, it only sends 2 coordinates.
x and y
but the mobile app sends x y and z which is in the api always 0. so this means you go like 20km but u run into the ground or your able to fly bc the ground is not always at 0

Login method.
Device ID.
The way commands are sent to the server.
Position updating.
There's more then one way to detect a bot, and more then likely they have multiple checks in place. Device ID is definitely there due to NOX users getting banned, as well as the way GPS data is being forced to the server, rather then a client constantly asking the server for updates as the device detects movement.
