Do NOT trust anyone on these boards

I made a help thread to get the time lost proto drake using the crz method as I couldn't get it to work... (still couldn't), and someone said he would help me.. he added me to skype we talked and I gave him my login.. (with authenticator so he couldn't login whenever he wanted).. After about an hour he said he kept "missing the drake but he was up".. after a while he gave up and went offline... 2 weeks later I noticed I lost over a hundred pets... I was like WTF... made a ticket and they told me I was hacked... I didn't understand at first but then my coin dropped and I realized it was this guy pretending to help me...

Well Blizz restored all my pets he caged and I hope they banned his ass....

Lesson learned, no matter how friendly they seem to be, don't trust anyone! Not that I know WHY anyone would risk their account doing this, he would have known I would open a GM ticket ? Was he rly that stupid ? Now he prolly lost his account...

If it was someone from theese forums you should PM a moderator with the information you have, as that would fall under the category of scamming you.

And dont let anyone log on the account for any reason unless you can see what they are doing (and can disconnect them if needed)

^ what he said, I'd add to check reputation. Someone purple/orange and up offering to help you like that sure.. Otherwise, don't give your info. But a general rule to be extra safe is to never give out your infoz.

There is no point in categorizing everyone on these forums as untrustworthy. There are very few people here who would scam you. Most of us are hard working and trustworthy, in order to keep this forum alive. For future reference I would not trust people unless they are a long time donator and have obvious contributions to the forum, or reputable people such as contributors, elites, etc. I suggest PM'ing a mod if you would like further investigation on the person who scammed you.

First of all sorry for all trouble you had with this guy mate.
Now like Fisher said check people reputation b4 you do something like that and also feedback's I would add. Specially their last pages on threads replies will show clearly who they truly are !
And I agree with Bippy here too there are TRUSTED and "hard working" on these forums mate , all you have to do is to check their rep , feedback's and their last activity (last pages on their threads)
Also beside this ask them to post on OwnedCore with a quote from Skype b4 you proceed to any trades.
WTS gold on EU Auchindoun / Jaedenar / Dunemaul --> Alliance and Horde ! Very cheap !

/shrug, even with rep you can't completely trust people on here or anywhere else.

People with lots of rep scam and then claim hack, or someone else was on their accounts.. etc.

Never give out your account info imo.

====but, you should post all the chat logs and stuff and get them banned imo--

Saying you shouldn't trust people on here because you gave a no-name user your username, password, and authenticator, is exactly the same as going to Washington, giving a stranger the keys to your car, and then saying never to trust anyone in Washington after he stole all the quarters out of your ash tray.

If anything, you should have told him to share his screen while you two skype'd to prove he was actually doing it.

We actually did at first try with screen sharing but he said he had huge lag... dunno if that was true or not...

Aside from what the other posters above wrote in terms of real advice... I have to say... you seem to be missing something important.

You were not hacked. You gave your login info and Auth info. The only person who risks a ban is YOU for breaking EULA and sharing account info.

And I completely agree with you, Why would you risk a ban on your account by account sharing for the purpose of exploiting?

I don't think the "hacker" was the stupid one in this particular scenario. Lesson Learned perhaps, but you still seem to be putting yourself up as a victim...

On a side note, I am going to assume you did not tell the GM doing your item restore that you had shared your account, so curious how you know for sure it was this particular individual who took them when there is a 2 week gap between the two events. You are probably correct, but sounds like you are assuming the two are connected with no proof.

Was he rly that stupid ? Now he prolly lost his account...
No he wasn't, YOU were that stupid. And in all honesty YOU should lose your account. THINK before you do something. Authenticator or not, im not giving ANYONE my login information. Thats just retarded.

Trust is earned, not granted. One does not simply go around expecting everyone to be honest.
    Know your people.

Well I got my account, I got my pets back... He was probably banned... I know who got the worst part of the stick... also giving someone your house key doesn't make that guy stealing your stuff legal... the police might agree it was dumb to give someone the keys, but in the end, you are not the thief.

Giving someone your house keys works as authorization to let them into your house by the law, just saying.
