    Moving threads versus Closing threads

So..in my own humble opinion moving threads & optionally maybe even educating users instead of closing then with a snide remark might net you a far better community in the long run..

A community that learns where to post either by a mention of why the thread was moved..or seeing that it was moved & learning themselves..

The value of which also being the discussions stay open..the entire point of a message board..versus people getting pissed.. PM'ng whomever they can..making new threads asking why their previous thread was closed instead of considering it wasn't placed in the section you both agree upon..

Might aid in getting things done & make for less work for moderators as people learn where their threads should be going..

Sure sure it may be abused..lazy people thinking you'll move them..or foolish people genuinely not knowing where to post..that's never going to change..

I tell you what though..moving threads as needed would keep the sections looking clean..correct & classy though..

I believe choosing a section is honestly common sense. Is it an exploit? Post in the exploit section. Is it a guide? Guides section it is. Is it some interesting info about the game? General it is.

Threads already do get moved, you just don't notice it. For moderators its just as easy to move a thread, as it is to delete it.

We sometimes move a thread, but in all honesty, I think it takes around 2 braincells to be able to place a thread in the right section, specially if you read the stickies, like you should.
It takes 30 seconds to move a thread, but 2 seconds to close it. Our staff handles a lot of threads and reports daily and therefore we told them to use the best option.

Majority of threads DO get moved to the correct sections unless they are something stupid and a blatant rule break or wrong section.

If a thread does get deleted, the poster then asks themselves why it was deleted/where has it gone, they should then realize where they should post it, etc. Also, often the questions they are asking have been answered in many other threads on the same page of that section, mods cant be baby sitters and move every thread and tell every single person that posts in a wrong section or whatever they do, people need to do this themselves, that is why the stickies are there as Kurios said.

Mods are very approachable, if anyone has questions you can simply look up a mod for that section and PM them with whatever issue you have, they will be more than happy to help you.
