Envelope answer suggestion

Hi ho.
So today I'd ask (or make a suggestion) if there was any idea about making answering to people who write here easier. Some time ago I've met a quite nice system.
1. Let's say that someone is writing something.
2. Other person answers him with something let's say for example with "@" or "quote".
3. Atm person from (1) must look for answer from (2) for herself. What if there would be a chance of getting it easier.

A notification could be make (on services what I've seen it) with for example an icon of envelope and number of answers on it since "last action" of user (1). After clicking on it the list (with answers) would expand - an example could be dropdown menu done in CSS. User via this list could see who answered him and by clicking go to this post and see what for example user (2) wrote him.

Quotes are fine IMO.
