Picture Of The Day

I just thought it would be cool if we could do something similar to WoW's homepage Picture of the Day.

Our community is quite smaller than the whole WoW Community, so the amount of pictures received would be a lot fewer so it could be possible that you could host them on the site itself (like attachments); if not then all the free image sites would work just as well.

This could either replace or be a supplement to the "Latest Images" on the homepage.

As for content, ideally it would be World of Warcraft related, however, depending on what the community thinkgs it could be broadened to MMOs discussed on these forums.

I figured there would be a couple people assigned to reviewing the pictures submitted.

The best ones would be put up front (or if there's more than 1 good one per day, then it can be held for later), and who decides among the 'review staff' can vary from day to day or just have 1 head SS picker + the review staff.

And for how the pictures are submitted, i figured there would just be a submit/upload page OR there would just be a link to PM the review staff (who would have a private account or something on here they all could access) and then that way it would cause clutter of pictures and hopefully the best ones would be choosen. I wasn't thinking it would be a thread where people just posted pictures.

Would be cool, but I doubt it would happen unless it could be done as a seperate function
to the actual forum, like a tab at the top. (Would be a idea to implement it with VB4) where
players can actually submit their screenshots and staff/players can vote on them, most voted
gets showed tomorrow.

That's why I mentioned above that it would probably be a good idea to make it submit only and only the review staff could see the pictures. Everyone else could only see the pictures the staff chooses to show as the PotD.

As for regulating submitions:
-Member+ only (same style rules for who can use signatures/avatars).
-For submiting none-allowed material (lolcats, etc), infractions will be given (amount determined by staff).

Since this would be new here, unlike the wow website we could allow any and all wow screenshots to be submitted for the time being. Maybe after a few months if a fair amount of generic (but still quality) wow Screenshots have been posted, we could start asking for specific screenshots (like seasonal, PvP, Instances, etc).

Also, a promotion of this is that this site does get a LOT of visitors each day. Yet, unlike the WoW PotD, you'll have a much better chance of getting your screenshot posted.

i doubt getting your picture shown on a website would attract that many people. People only care about the one on WoW's site because BLIZZARD choses it, making them feel special about themselves =P
