College Internet First World Problems

Hey guys,

I recently moved to my college, but the internet is just awful there. During the busy parts of the day when everyone is using the internet I'll get 5k ms in WoW. Even more of a problem, the ports for Honorbuddy and Titanfall are blocked. Is there anything I can do about these issues? Anything legal?

At my school facebook, and other stuff (ownedcore included) is blocked and what i did is i made a VPN to somewhere and now i can access those sites, but remember its against the schools rules to do this.

Some of my friends whose college has bad internet bought their own, maybe you could do something similar?

I can't afford to pay for my own internet. That would be nice but it costs about 75$/month for anything decent, and I'm not working. I hear VPNs work...but if they're not legal I don't want to use one. I don't want to get in trouble.

so are they legal?
