Dofus MMORPG Hack (Using Packets)

Okay guys so here it is.. I play this game called Dofus that extremely fun and I know of people who have hacked money using modified packets. I have put this method to the test using WPE to no avail. My friend says he uses a program someone designed for him that freezes packets so he can modify them as they are "passing through". I cannot find a program that does this for winsock packets. If anyone can help me it would be appreciated, need an experienced hacker or network specialist.
