This guide was made by the great team over at Rock Band Drum Guide | Rock Band Zone It is NOT made by me. I'm just sharing it with you gentlemen.
So you used to be a Guitar Hero star: Shredding notes, hammering on and pulling off, like you were Jimi Hendrix reincarnated (if he played video games). But now with Rock Band, youâre a total newbie on drums, just trying to get through easy.
Save Your Shins
If youâre having trouble making it through a few songs in a row because your legs are cramping up and your shins are in extreme pain, here is your solution:
When playing drums in Rock Band, keep your foot depressed on the bass pedal at all times - instead of hovering your foot over the pedal waiting to press it down. Keeping your foot hovering in the air the whole time adds tension in your lower leg, which is causing your muscles to cramp up.
When you need to play a note using the bass pedal, lift your foot back up, and then press it down again to hit the note.
Holding your Sticks
The Match Grip is a popular style for holding your drum sticks and is suited for beginners. Here from Youtube are some videos by the ever-enthusiastic Dom Famularo. He demonstrates the German Grip, French Grip (or as it was known in 2003, the Freedom Grip) and the American Grip (F-yeah!).

Style, Style, Style
While the bandâs drummer is relegated to the back of the stage, he certainly doesnât go unnoticed. A little style can go a long way to help draw the attention away from that egotistical lead singer. Hydraulic drum platforms lowered from the ceiling or disappearing in a puff of green smoke at the end of the song can really wow a crowd over.
While those may not be feasible to perform at home, one thing you can do - Spin it to win it. At the beginning of a song, or in between drum parts, you can some extra class to your game by spinning your drum sticks.
Here is a video demonstration from Youtube:

Improving Coordination with Paradiddles
Para-what? A paradiddle is a drumming pattern. When you get into the harder difficulty modes, youâre going to need to be able to wrap your mind around more complex beats. Practicing paradiddles can help. One of the simplest is the Single Paradiddle, which consists of Right-Left-Right-Right-Left-Right-Left-Left hits on the drum pads. See this Youtube video for an example:

Keep Practicing
At one point, you never played Guitar Hero, and look at where you are now.. playing Jordan one more time on Expert for your mom. Point is, youâve gone from zero to hero before and you can do it again. Just keep playing and donât give up.
Some day you may even be as cool as this guy:

Thank you for Reviewing this guide. Hopefully you will become as great a dummer as fricken keith moon someday.
