    Major features cut from Warhammer Online

    Are Mythic doing like funcom and releasing a far from finished game?

    In the latest of an ongoing series of interviews with MMORPG.com, Mythic Entertainment VP and General Manager Mark Jacobs has dropped big news on the Warhammer Online fanbase: major features are being culled from the game in order to make their Fall launch deadline. In short, the capital cities for the Dark Elf, High Elf, Orc, and Dwarf factions will not be in the game at launch. The Human city of Altdorf and the Chaos Inevitable City will be the only Capital cities in the game. This is an enormous change, seemingly changing much of what we know about the game's core of RvR gameplay.

    Additionally, four classes are being removed, deemed to be in a condition unsuitable for launch. They are:

    * The Choppa (Greenskin)
    * The Hammerer (Dwarf)
    * The Blackguard (Dark Elf)
    * The Knight of the Blazing Sun (Empire)

    As the website notes, all of these are melee classes and two of these were intended to be the primary tanking classes for their race. This leaves the Empire and Dark Elf races without a dedicated tanking career, possibly limiting their contributions to end-game PvE content. Jacobs moved immediately to try to curtail the obvious rumor-mongering: "This has nothing to do with EA ... they had zero input in this ... They don't even know about it. It's not a discussion we would have with them."

    We've previously expressed some reservations about just these issues. How do you feel about these major announcements for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

    There's still a number of things that need work as is, alot of starter areas and a number of classes that could use help to get them up to snuff with what a wow player would expect for quality.

    I'm finding the game entertaining and this is annoying, but I don't see how they could make the date with this content included, and launching after wrath of the lich king is a financial catastrophe

    I read about that earlier this week and was EXTREMELY dissapointed. As they've quoted numerous times, PVP is everything. If your missing your capital city thats a HUGE chunk of PvP gone. At that with only 1 Capital city for each faction, 1 Huge battle isn't going to be as fun imo, as 3 major battles. If One was losing I'd like to hop to the other that was winning for example. Along with each race losing a class...Warhammer, I lost some respect for you guys >_> I'll probably still make the hop from WoW to War but at the same time, I might have to reconsider.

    I was only ever interested with two classes in that game:

    Marauder
    Squig Hoppa

    However, the removal of the capital cities is a major blow, and I am, for the first time, questioning wether I should buy WAR or not.

    To be fair they did plan on having a lot of classes which would be a lot of work in terms of balancing and what not. I doubt they're doing another Funcom or anything like that, or at least I hope not.
