Mass Effect PC Question

I just got Mass Effect and im installing it right now. Which class should I choose for a beginner??

Soldier .... Heavy Armour, powerful weapons, immunity, etc.

I played mass ffect on my 360, half-engineer, half-force (or whatever, dont remember this already as i played in november). Just shooting is not interesting and a bit lame tbh.
