Audacity

Audacity is a great open source program which allows you to record audio from your computer. Most programs like this cost tons of money, but this is 100% open source freeware and acts as good as a professional piece of software.

This can be used for:
Just listening to yourself because you are extremely smug (like me)
Recording your music
And much more!

Required:
Microphone for your computer

P.S: The recording quality will only be as good as your microphone, if it sounds like a cruddy recording, dont blame it on the program.

Been using this for a while its great for recording vinyl , theres tons of plug-ins and the best way to make a mixed tape/cd.
