Westboro Baptist Hate group

I am not sure about anyone else, but i saw something about this Hate group, and i wanted to find out more. I dont know about you, but reading this has made me sick, that people do this.

(Some of the quotes have cuss words, but i feel that they are rightly put, so you are warned)

Here is a little back ground

Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is a fundamentalist religious organization headed by Fred Phelps and based in Topeka, Kansas, U.S..

The church runs numerous websites such as GodHatesFags.com,[1] GodHatesAmerica.com and others expressing condemnation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people (LGBT), Roman Catholics, Muslims and Jews, as well as populations it believes are supporting the forementioned groups, including Swedes, Canadians, Irish, British, and Americans.

The organization is monitored by the Anti-Defamation League,[2] and is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[3][4] Although well-known in LGBT communities for picketing gay pride events and funerals, the group achieved national notoriety for picketing funeral processions for soldiers killed in action during the Iraq War[5].

While its members identify themselves as Baptists, the church is an independent church not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations, nor does any Baptist institution recognize the church as a Bible-believing fellowship. The church describes itself as following Primitive Baptist and Calvinist principles. Its first public service was held on the afternoon of Sunday, 27 November 1955.[6]

The church bases its work around the belief expressed by its best known slogan and the address of its primary website, "God hates fags", and expresses the idea, based on its Biblical eisegesis, that nearly every tragedy in the world is linked to homosexuality – specifically society's increasing tolerance and acceptance of the so-called "Homosexual Agenda." The group maintains that God hates homosexuals above all other kinds of "sinners"[7] and that homosexuality should be a capital crime.[8]

What really pisses me off is that they feel that the men who give their lives in Iraq is, God punishing America for harboring gays. My view on gays is neutral, i respect their way of life.

Private Jonathan Pfender, 22 and a native of Evansville, Indiana, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on December 30, 2005. Yesterday, the 11th, his funeral service was held and hundreds of people came out in support of his family. Not because he was well-known or had an extended friends list, but to pay homage to his service to his country and to drown out a few unwelcome and uninvited guests:

The massive show of support was in response to seven flag-stomping, obscenity-spewing female protesters representing Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church.

Confined to a walkway, set off by orange plastic fencing across from The Centre, the laughing protesters danced on a rain-soaked American flag, substituted obscenities for the lyrics of patriotic songs and carried placards that praised the death of soldiers.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t keep up with the latest and greatest. so Who the **** is Westboro Baptist Church? A little research showed them to be a hate group based out of Topeka, Kansas that believes God is killing soldiers in Iraq because they serve a country that is “harboring gays.” These inbreds (and I mean that literally, most of the 100 or so members come from the same family) formed a church, with no relation to any other church or creed (and downright condemned by some), wrapped around the idea that they are the only “true” church of Jesus Christ and that they have been mandated by God to put down the military and homosexuality.

well that is the great thing about the good ol USofA its called the 1st amendment which entitles everyone in the country to freedom of speech and expression. If you hate or dislike something feel free to let it be known. There is also another goody in the same amendment called the free exercise of religion. This basically means you are free to believe and practice what ever you want with out persecution. Personally these guys crack me up as they are religiouse nut jobs but im going to stop there befor i say something to offend christ loving America.

in which case i would tell you to go speak with anonymous...but the first amendment protects their rights to believe what ever they want no matter how wrong it may be....as well it protects their right to peacefully protest and demonstrate...meaning they can hold up signs and protest their hearts desire as long as they don't physically inflict harm on any person...oh well hack their page if you want but civil disobedience would not be a plausible defense in doing so...lol...oh well my 2 cents
