Want to secure the files on your computer? have things you don't want your parents seeing being as most of you are young? (maybe some pron?, or want to have all your usernames and passwords in one file so you don't forget them, or want to only distribute files to people you trust and make sure only they can see them..) lol well you can download this program (PGP encryption tool) (not sure how well it works with vista), (btw this is opensource pgp encryption)

what it is is pgp encryption or pretty good privacy..

You can use it encrypt your emails and any files on your computer, either using publickey cryptography, conventional cryptation or self-decrypting achives. Also you can create digital signatures with it. You can also use PGP to wipe files and free space on your computer.

PGP is one of the strongest and best tested crypto algorithms in the world today.

One way this program could be used is you could create a self decrypting archive which you could upload your work that you don't want leached outside of mmowned.. then just give the password out to the people who you trust.. these files have no chance of being cracked except with the password and if htey have the password anyone can open them even if they don't have pgp.. with pki or other encryption methods you actually need to program on the receiving cpu in order to decrypt them..
