I believe the free upgrade is for those who have legit copies of Windows 7 or 8/8.1. If you have a pirated copy, which ofc hacker does not, then you still can upgrade and try Win10 but have a finite amount of time within which you must pay Microsoft for Windows 10.

If you torrent and watch TV/Movies which you download, not all MKV files will play correctly. I am unsure why this is. Some of them will play video, but no sound. Some will be sound with no video. I think it depends on your sound and grafix cards, but since you can upgrade without this issue, you won't know which it is, till you have to replace them.

I upgraded to win10 about a month ago and I'm loving it so far. The only problems i've had is "system" process taking up way too much memory (70+ % of 8gigs.) I had to go into safemode and turn off superfetching and since then it hasn't used more than 1%. I also had to download a 3rd party program to disable windows defender because that was taking up too much memory as well. I think its a great operating system though, much better than 7 or 8.

I found this a bit odd! Currently I am using a laptop that runs on an older processor w/2G's of RAM. Upgrading from W7 - W10 has done wonders. The reason I went through with updating was that I did a bit of research. Many places, forums, & other online users have stated that W10 > W7 in terms of memory usage. I would 100% agree with this answer. W7 seemed to be a lot harder on my Laptop than W10 does currently. Plus, overall W10 is MUCH more appealing than W7. If we take a look at release dates, W7 is dinosaur compared to W10 nowadays. I would strongly recommend you take advantage of the free upgrade. However, do some googling! Compare your specs with others experience's on the web to find a more solidified answer & make your decision based off that. I really think that W10 > W7 in any given situation. The only issue I could possibly think of right now is that you may have some compatibility issues with games you play. Just wanted to give some input on this post as I recently upgraded & love every bit of W10.
