    Do you suffer from Insomnia?

    Hey guys,

For the last 2 years since my major RTC i have suffered from severe insomnia.

Ive been prescribed Zopiclone 7.5mg every now and then but i near enough have to beg my GP (Doctor) to get them now as they are highly addictive.

Ive tried loads of things to be able to get into a sleep routine but nothing works.

I can easily stay awake for 70+ Hours but mentally and physically exhausted.

Once i do get to sleep i cant wake up, There have been times ive gone to sleep and skipped a day and a half and not even realised it still feeling tired when i wake up.

Its now driving me crazy and im not sure what to do, So im asking you guys if any of you suffer from insomnia how do you cope with it?

I always sleep with my TV on i cant help it, If i dont have voices in the background from the TV i dont feel comfortable. I fall asleep within minutes of listening to Hugh Laurie on House. Its kind of like being a child and having a 'blanky' But its with his voice if you know what i mean.

This isnt a option to watch House every time i want to go to bed because unless im feeling tired again it doesnt work.

    Please guys, Ideas?

P.S. Nytol and over the counter sleep aids DO NOT WORK! im currently sat here munching a box of them lol

    Regards,
    Vengfull

Try having your gf give you small massages, just on the hands and feet, whenever i can't sleep this will do the trick in a matter of minutes, I understand your case is much worse than just not sleeping on a regular day, but throwing in my 2 cents

Owen cheers for your input, I do actually get her to do it kinda, I call it 'tickles' and she basicly just uses her finger tips slowly all over my back and sides and it relaxes me but the moment she stops im wide awake again, Sometimes it puts me to sleep but then im laying awkwardly accross the bed blocking her from being able to go to sleep so she has to wake me up.

Once she's woken me up thats it im wide awake again

Even if it means sleeping on the floor / couch a day or so a week, i think she'd be willing to take the fall to have her man sleep. Wouldn't be the worst idea imo if doing this slowly got you to get better. And like i said, try hands and feet, its a different relaxed feeling than the back.

    Hi Vengfull,

Are you doing any kind of sports, running, cycling, football etc.?

If not, then running a few times a week or even start going to the gym - remember to push yourself, your body will get tired even you mind. You will sleep like a little baby again

And a little thing to keep in mind:
(That is, if you drink something with caffeine in it)

Don't drink anything containing a high amount of caffeine. As the half-life (I think it is in English) is approx. 5-7 hours.
So let us say you drink something containing 100mg of caffeine, it will take 5-7 hours before it is down to 50mg. Therefore, the 50mg will still be in your bloodstream.

With that said. Ofc. it's ok to drink something with caffeine, it's just about timing and amount

p.s I hope it make sense, my English is a bit off

    This.
I've personally never had insomnia that bad. The last time it happened was when MoP was released and it lasted for about 2 weeks. I stayed up for 4 days at a time and slept for 12 hours. I'm not sure why you have it that bad. Maybe you should get some tests done and see if you have any deficiencies in magnesium or melatonin? Idk, I'd do that if I was in your position.

    Diet
    Regular Exercise
Take your mind off everything before you go to bed (make notes on stickynotes if you have to)
    Bananna + milk before bed
Walk around on your tip-toes 10min before bed, so the blood goes to your lower body
