All right, so I'm trying to put together a list of ideas. I'm a full time option trader which is how I make the majority of my $$$.
It gets boring after awhile & can be very stressful--so, I figured I might do something that creates more value, help you guys out, and maybe make a buck in the process.
1. Selling all your stuff (all you need is laptop right?). I'm currently in the process of selling most of my stuff. I already got rid of my TV, PS3, and hope to sell or put 90% of my books on Amazon (if I can't sell them here).
2. Create an App. This could be as simple as inventing it (you can get anywhere from 1-30% royalties), or you could go full out and do all the programming/marketing yourself. I'm currently in the process of learning Esperanto & no time to brush up on programming (but maybe for you)!
3. Start a Business. This is self-explanatory, but do you have the skills or the time?
4. Flip stuff. Sell beta keys, steam accounts, playstation 3s you bought with lowballer bids, cars, real estate, etc... (of course, each one of the above is a whole new game)
5. Offer your services. When I was growing up I learned a lot about PC Hardware and Visual Basic 6. I still build Custom PCs as a hobby; I think it would be cool (not as profitable), but provide a valuable service to people. (I think Vista Print is still offering free business cards too--so get on facebook/craigslist and advertise)!
6. 3D Print Legal Items. Phone Cases, Bowels, Forks, Lamps--you name it. Seems like a very competitive arena with high margin though... have to be innovative.
7. Become sort of an instructor. If you have a degree/certification in the area, with many years of experience, this speaks for itself. This could range to gun instruction, hunting, video game lessons, piano, guitar, swimming, weight lifting, running, programming, math, martial arts--anything in which you are extremely proficient at (I don't even think you have to be a master, people will still hire you with lower prices i.e. do good marketing).
8. Involves writing a ton blog posts/youtube videos to capitalize on ad dollars. The hard part is getting exposure. You need to be exceptionally good at either of these skills, but also have to get your message out to people. Forums, facebook, twitter, linkedin*, craigslist, community billboards, flyers etc... are all fair game (you just need to be creative)!
9. Mining bitcoin. I tried to give this some though, but I doubt this is profitable. I think you are better trading the bitcoin (forex) than mining it. New hardware is released all the time, then suddenly it is harder to mine and you are stuck with a depreciating asset. If you are really savvy and can time the release of new hardware, it might be worth a shot, if
A: You have a boatload of capital ($150k+)
B: You don't mind selling/upgrading your machines as soon as new hardware is released
C: You have a fine understanding of psychology, algorithms, and connections to the bitcoin community.
Just to add here, but it would probably be more profitable if instead you made/sold your own bitcoin mining rigs. As an added bonus, you could use the display to mine. (This probably requires a great worth of effort and sophistication on your part--with a strong understanding of mathematics, marketing, programming, engineering, soldering, and computers in general).
10. The worst way and hardest way to make money: Sell WoW Gold. I am actually not sure about this one, but I think it would require too much effort to make a profit. Unless you have an entire army of slave labor at your disposal, it's probably not worth it imo.
Of course, there are some good ways to make money with WoW that do not require much effort (flipping game cards on ebay, collector's editions from different sites, flipping game accounts, providing leveling/gold/pvp services (great, if you can outsource!), hiring cosgamers, getting paid actual $$$ to help someone for _ hours or gear them if you're GM, writing WoW guides, creating a pay only guild, selling wow stuff on your guild website etc...)
I've listed only the legal ways of making money and have specifically left out gambling. Feel free to comment/contribute (nothing illegal please). Thanks!
