Picking up where I left off. What business category do I fall under?

Basically it all started in 2011 when I helped my supervisor catch her spouse cheating on her with his ex. She paid me for it and I just took it as a quick hobby. Well word of mouth spread and I got a bunch of calls asking for the same help. Even though I was getting paid, I stopped the whole thing after a while because school was consuming. And school is my first priority.

Now I have some free time so im picking it up again. I'm familiar with networks, firewalls, some light encryption, etc. But my focus is on the "spy stuff". So my question is, what category do I fall under? Im "ASS"uming security but I could be wrong. Also what legal risks am I facing with this type of business? Im thinking of making a contract stating that the devices in question must be owned by the person purchasing my services. Is that enough?

Private investigator or PI. They operate legally most of the time, but almost all PIS break some law in order to break the case. Business is not that hard, requires time, you don't need firewall nor encryption knowledge. Legal trouble for taking someones picture depends which country you are in (and then state and then region). Most of the time, to crack a case, you will need some type of info that's not public, so you will be bribing people to let you take a sneak peak. That can get you in trouble regardless where you are.

Job is fun, bit time consuming, but really fun.
