    [Linux] A couple Qs...

    Hello Ownedcore,

I have a couple questions regarding a few things on linux. Here is the Low down...
I just installed Linux mint on a Compaq presario V5000. I'm looking for a way to make it run a little faster because the graphical interface of it is a little much for the laptop. By a
little much, I mean it as so. Linux runs fine, just not as fast as I'd want it to. I am also looking for any HELPFUL advice you would be able to give regarding linux as I am new to
the OS. Such things as suggested packages, tips or tricks will be highly regarded. Please take these into account while posting for me to take you seriously.

    1. I already know that the Compaq Presario V5000 is a worthless hunk of crap.
    2. I tried Ubuntu, Linux mint seemed to be the only one to install properly.
    3. All help will be appreciated. As in help, I mean helpful serious answers.

I am simply looking for a few pointers, that's all.

Fedora LXDE will run perfectly on old computers. I personally use Fedora 16 with gnome 3.

I tried using fedora, doesn't want to install right. When booting from disc I get an error about "can't access TTy, Job control turned off"

Any idea how to fix this anyone?
