Well. A friend gave me this video of a hacker group called Anonymous is going to shut down facebook at november 5th 2011 (This saturday).

Yes, I also had a smile on my face when reading OP. Anonymous is not a hacktivist "group", even though that's what the gov and media are trying to convince you that it is. Anonymous is an idea of freedom.

I don't care if facebook is closed at some point, I think it would be brilliant if facebook was closed for a couple of weeks, if not permanently.
If I think it goes down on the 5th of November? Mayhaps. But if it gets "closed by Anonymous", there's a logical reason behind it, which is privacy. I like the example given in the video about facebook knowing more about you, than your own family. And it's not even a lie. They have all information about you. What enters facebook, stays in facebook.

An "idea of freedom?" Ha. They've done a few decent things (none that I can even remember specifically off the top of my head, so there's that) but the majority of anything "anon"-related is retarded, childish defamation of something/someone. As far as trying to take down Facebook for privacy reasons, no. Not at all. Facebook only "knows" as much about you as you want it to. Anon has released more personal information about people (who sometimes have done absolutely nothing wrong) than the majority of anyone will/could learn from Facebook. Plus, forcing Facebook to shut down as a sign of good will towards people's privacy is retarded. People want to use it otherwise they wouldn't. Anon forcing that on people to "help" them is no different than people forcing religion on others, something I'm sure anonymous is entirely against.

I haven't been checking Facebook non-stop today, but from what I can tell they failed. Surprise surprise.
