    WoW folder question..

Okay this may sound a stupid question but..!

My hardrive is not that big at all, infact it can only just hold wow and a few other things ( bad i know, crappy laptop ) but when im on wow i play fine no problems.
Im down to 2gb free space atm and when i installed wow there was over 10gb free, where has it all gone exactly.. all ive done is play wow, surf the net etc and for that i just do a defrag and clean up, Ive been looking through my wow folder and ive found that the "Data" folder is 21gb.. in this folder there is another folder called "Cache" this folder is 6.35GB which is all stuff like "SoundCache-enGB.MPQ" :S!

Also inside the Cache folder is another folder called "enGB" which is 544MB and inside this there is also loads of sound cache files and files like "patch-base-14333.MPQ"

I was just wondering what are all these files, im pretty sure they were not taking up this much space when i first installed the game because i had alot more free space on my laptop!

What files am i aloud to delete and which should i not touch? If someone could give me a detailed explanation over this thread or private message it would be very helpfull!

    THANKS

    WoW folder question..

All of those files are important to the game. They contain all the sounds, models, images pretty much everything in World of Warcraft. You don't want to touch them!

As far as I know, the only folders you can remove safely from the main World of Warcraft folder are WTF, Interface and Screenshots.
WTF contains all your settings for the game and characters to do with the UI and game. Example, your video settings and sound settings.
Interface contains all the downloaded addons you have.
Screenshots of course contains any screenshots you have!

The only folder of the 3 that would get large should be screenshots. Unless you have SO many addons making your Interface folder large. Even if you did have lots, it wouldn't be GB's worth!
Other than that, there might be patch .exe's in your folder from when you updated the game. However, i'm not sure where they end up. I think it's in the main World of Warcraft folder.

In any case, the World of Warcraft folder gets big. Mine is 28GB's with a decent chunk being screenshots. I wouldn't really go touching things if I were you
Maybe someone else can help you more than I could!

You can delete the cache if you want, it'll just regenerate it, I'm assuming you know how a cache works so i'll not patronise you by going into the details.

Just delete the cache once in a while. It will come back when you launch wow again next time but it eill be smaller in size.
