RTS Strategy games?

Hello, i was wondering if there are any free online RTS games that are like Age of empires?

I dont want any game like travian or Empires and allies where you build a city and have to sit and wait 12 hours for resources before you can upgrade, i mean a game where you play matches between 2,4 or 6 players etc. like you do in Age of Empires and Starcraft 2.

I'm looking for something that is "Free to play". WC3 costs money, im looking for an RTS game that works like League of legends but you create armies instead and play the matches like you do in Age of Empires.

EE was really the first and last true RTS game I ever got into. Probably played it more than any other game period. I remember trying EE2 and not really liking the new style. With a new developer, new game style, the EE series never did it for me after AoC. I'm sure they were still decently good RTS games overall though. QFT

Unfortunately, the servers for online play have been taken down (as of roughly 2008 ). Direct connect still works afaik.
