Religion is a curse

I read the original post, but I can't be bothered to read the rest of the posts.

In my opinion, religion is something that you can turn to and welcomes you with open arms. You can become member of a large community, and nothing is forced upon you. All services are optional, but helping and being active within the community helps you to learn about there beliefs and it's up to you whether you believe them. It's a very emotional and loving place to be, and even if I personally am not religious I understand why others are and I might one day become religious as well.

It's not all about "is God real" since we could bark out scientific statements and such all day long. It's about beliefs and being part of a community, you can learn to understand them and they will try to understand you. It's a very 'happy' environment, without the morale and social issues with today's modern society.

Like anything, certain religion scenarios have resulted in trajic incidents, such as a Catholic church which was found to have paedophile priests within it. But this not the same with every church, and these rare scenarios have an impact upon every other part of the religion stereotyping it and giving it a bad reputation, similar to how health and safety gets out of hand.

Go for what you want to do, even go to your local church and give it a go. Don't listen to what most people say, sure ask for there opinions but don't let it influence you. At the end of the day it's whatever you feel happy with.
