Wich I can almost say for sure is bullshit, if you ask people; "Are you a female?", Alot of people would just say yes to get items, help etc. My friend and I actually tried this, and we got boost whenever we wanted.

Maybe, but personally I do believe the 1/5 ratio. I have been playing wow for over 5 years now and have met / talked to / heard of many females over the years who play wow.

You need to remember that many women out there do NOT like having people know they are women simply because of the reasons, expectations and stereotyping that people have mentioned in this thread.

The people out there who claim that the woman to man ratio is 1:10 or say that there are really few women out there, are mostly likely the kind of people that women want to avoid. If I was a female I would be offended by making those sort of comments, even if it is jokingly (people joke about racist jokes...doesn't make it any less or more enjoyable than gender jokes). If I was a woman and saw someone saying such jokes and preaching such opinions, I would make sure that I stay away from them.

I always enjoy having a female friend to hang out with in wow or real life, because it allows you to take a break from some of the male egoistic/e-peen-fests that seem to happen daily now.
Be a person who a female player wouldn't mind having as a friend or would trust, and you will be introduced into a whole new world of players that you never knew existed.
