So, I failed to find any site that was legit and offering a decent amount for my account I had to sale, so I decided to take a trip into the dark pits of MarkeeDragon.
I posted that I had an 80 dk for sale there and I got a couple hits the first day. One of them, lets call him Mr. Loz, told me to contact them via MSN, and so I did.
Right from the start Mr. Loz was pretty modest, and acted like the nub that really wanted to buy the account. Everything went pretty smoothly, I exchanged login with him, he gave me the money I was asking for, and I gave him the secret answer. We said our goodbyes and it was over.
Not. Not even 5 minutes after the sale, Mr. Loz submitted an unauthorized transaction hold on paypal and my money was held. He fed me some BS line somewhere around
and proceeded to block me on MSN.Code:2/23/2010 7:40:57 PM Mike Loz the money you sent me, you claimed it back 2/23/2010 7:41:19 PM Loz Mike i didnt 2/23/2010 7:41:22 PM Loz Mike lemme check 2/23/2010 7:41:34 PM Loz Mike i will just give ur acc back if i cant fix this issue
Ah great, I just got scammed I thought to myself. Then I realized... "Oh wait, I'm not the average internet nub that gets scammed, time to own this punk."
So first I checked out his email address he used for his MSN. Absolutely nothing came up from that. I then went to MD and googled his MD user name.
BINGO. Xfire profile. There was an exact match with his MD account on Xfire. It had his real name on there, that he played wow, and even his nickname.
I was in business.
So I then went and checked Myspace for his name, nothing there. I then checked Facebook.
Bingo again. His facebook address was the same as his MD username even. On his profile it even says:
So now I'm just about 100% positive this was my man. I knew that he went to school. In New York. So, I thought it was about time to talk to this guy. I ran a search on USSearch.com and found out all kinds of goodies about him. I got his parent's address as well as his current address and... a phone number. Dun Dun DUN.I'm 20, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the movies, computer games, relaxing, etc. I go to Stony Brook University, majoring in the biological sciences.
So I went ahead and rang the number.
"Hello, is this Da***?"
"No, this is his fater, whos this?"
Damn. Guess that was his parent's number. So the conversation went on, and I explained the situation to his father, emailed him the chat logs, and all along he kept telling me he's sorry, no one should go through what has happened here, and that he didn't raise his son to be this way. I could hardly keep the giggles in from how much ownage this was.
He proceeded to tell me that he will confront his son for what he has done and that he will make him get a job on the weekends (Also this was a good opportunity to make his son finally get a job (other than scamming lolz)) to pay me if he doesn't come up with a VERY good explanation.
Owned.
I now have plenty of ammunition against him if he doesn't decide to pay up. I don't think dear old dad would like telemarketers bugging him all day, or I don't think he would like weekly gay newsletters delivered to his college address.
So he messaged me back on facebook. The message is as follows. Maybe this will scare him into giving me my money.
So, that message I sent him on facebook sure enough did work. He now wants to talk things over. I'll do that while im in class today and update on how it goes later.
So, Mr. Loz was pretty scared at this point. I knew way too much about him now and he didn't want anything to do with me anymore. The 220$ is sitting safely in my Paypal.
Lessons to be learned here:
1) Don't use your screen name you use for everything to scam
2) Dont **** with jsn0x, I will come eat your babies.
FIN
Hope you enjoyed.
