    Antivirus software?

Right now i have a trial of Norton 360 that has been expired for about 2 months(which means i am 2 months behind on virus updates). So, i figured that i should probably get some type of antivirus. I have Comcast internet, which means i can get McAfee for free, but in my experience it can be slow.

So my question is, which should i get, McAfee, Avast, or AVG. I have looked at reviews of all of them online but it's hard to tell which one is really the best(by best i mean: catches the most viruses, and doesn't hog too much memory). Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

    Antivirus software?

None of those. Get NOD32. It's the best, no contest. Norton is terrible. It only uses 48 MB of memory if you're worried about that.

You don't need AV. If you're not an idiot you can prevent getting viruses yourself. There's still chances where there's no way to stop an infection, but you can still easily remove any virus yourself if you know what you're doing.

Kaspersky has the best detection methods and rates if that's what you care most about.

Kaspersky, hands down. It's light, and it catches more than any of the others, sooner than the others ("best day-zero" something is how Cypher puts it, if I recall right. Not that he uses an AV).
