is it a custom computer or a brand name?

why do you want to overclock? your not gonna notice any difference with the amount of overclock possible. If you just wanna overclock to say that you did it then fine.. I can help

just know that it can shorten the life of your mobo and cpu and it really isnt gonna do much

I suggest you get a water cooler before over clocking, you really shouldn't have any issues with that setup.

    Intel Quad 2.66/2.67ghz
    6gb Ram.
I know next to nothing about hardware.
Will overclocking improve my performance at all? I have no real reason to, everything loads pretty quickly, but if you guys say it'll make a difference I don't see why not.

Overclocking does show a nice performance if DONE RIGHT. If you're content with your current settings though, I wouldn't suggest it. It's more or less for the computer enthusiasts who want that faster then fast feeling with their pc.
