    TBH, don't get SLI.

First of all, you will need a PSU that can pull it, second of all it creates massive heat and little performance gain.

An HD4870 1GIB or even better an 4870X2 will net you much better performance.

Few things need to be cleared out here.

Nvidia SLI can only be used with 2 exact same cards. You have an 8800, Gt, GTX, or ultra ?
Whatever it is, you`ll need to buy exactly the same one to get SLI working.

Only ATI`s crossfire allows you to use 2 graphic cards which are not identical, with all kinds of neat tricks..

Second, you will most likely need to get a heavier power supply to feed the 2 graphic cards.

Third, what surpremeoverlord says is bullcrap nowadays. Although the older games dont support SLI and therefore cant use both graphic cards. Newer games as ,Crysis,FarCry, and such games do and will certainly get an advantage cant tell you what exactly though...
I`m not sure but I think WoW,AoC, LoTR does support them but I advice checking that.

Stwallock recommends the Geforce 9500GT as a newer gpu. This too is bs, as any of the 8800 series is WAY better then that card.

And last but not least, are you sure that your processor is modern enough to keep up with the 2 graphic cards ? If it cant , your CPU will be your bottleneck. You want the perfect combination between RAM,CPU,GPU(s). Check if your CPU isnt already a bottleneck.
