    Do you not have anti-virus / anti-spyware installed ?

Can you not come up yourself with the idea to (install &) use an antivirus/spyware ?

Buy avira antivirus (you have to pay for it) but it'll clean ANY virus off that pc, seriously.
I've seen pc's that were riddled with horrific trojans cleaned within 3full scans with it.

    Not tried nod32 yet..
i just know that the once good avg free is now absolute crap (it does frackall to defend your computer, and sucks at removing viruses and trojans)

Not saying freeware. There's a word for it. The first letter is W, and the last letter is Z. But its not allowed here.

Well from what you say it sounds like you have some nasty adware.Btw you can not clean most adware with an antivirus.the only way i know how to clean adware is by cleaning it your self (manully) or reformating your drive.Anyway if you would like to install an antivirus that's free i would say avast is a good choice here's a link Download FREE antivirus software - avast! Home Edition. If you have any questions Please feel free to Pm Me or Msg me on MSN:[email protected] Thanks Hope This helped.

A good rule of thumb is to always create a new System Restore point when your download something that may be contaminated with a virus.

If it did have a virus MOST of the time you can remove it by simply restoring your computer back to the time before it had the virus.

    Guide to using System Restore:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx

If you can't remove the virus through an anti-virus program, you have a few options.

    1) Look up guides on how to remove the specific virus.
    2) System Restore until your back before you had the virus.

Last option, obviously the least popular...

    3) Format your hard drive.

NOTE: System Restore is for Windows, I'm unsure about other operating systems. Also keep in mind System Restore does not remove documents, it simply removes all executable files obtained from after the Restore Point and is easily undo-able. So it's not like completely reverting back in time.

that said about systemrestore -> if the virus is sophisticated, it will put itself in the old system restore file.

Wow.. a bunch of idoits you are. Formatting is a LAST RESORT OPTION

Ok. First download: Malwarebytes.org along with http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe. I also prefer Trend Micro HijackThis - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com for checking.

Now first download and install Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, ComboFix, and HiJack This. Set it for a full complete scan. During this time peroid do something else, it takes between 45mins to about 2 hours depending on how much space on your drive.

Let it clean the detected stuff (If found). Then reboot.

Next step. Run Combofix.exe from where you downloaded it to / installed (Preferablely Desktop.) Let it do its thing and wait, and again do something else that does not use your computer. Then restart your computer.

Congratulations! You just cleaned your computer without having to format anything.

Oh. If you really want to.

Extra Step, Run HiJack This and send me the contents of the created log via PM. I'll debug it and see if your computer is running smoothly and is no longer sick.

Meh if you want a temp effective AV get a BitDefender trial.
It's a system terror so I don't recommend running it full-time (unless you get Game Safe cracked which is a sub-version of BitDefender).

It's probably one of the best AVs out there... talking about effectiveness.

Best reply so far was from Valkyr Supersoldier. I work at a computer repair shop... virus removal everyday *bleh* and 99 percent of the time Malwarbytes first then Combofix second nukes teh bugs =P-

as far as which AV... if you didnt know what not to click to get infections in the first place an AV aint gonna help much.

first post BTW, hope the advice confirmation helps OP
