Why i lost faith in americans

To whom it may concern:

It saddens me, as an American, to the deepest parts of my core, to witness the blind ignorance of our once great nation. Those of you who sat by and blindly did nothing, those of you who supported candidates without fully understanding the working of governmental powers, and most of all those who failed to listen to the facts and let yourselves be blinded by color and bright flashing lights, let not only your Country down, but yourselves down.

Let me explain.


What is known as a "congressional majority" is a circumstance when either side of the major political party controls the majority vote in the house and the senate. By having this control the majority is able to pass legislation in favor of their beliefs. For the past 2 years and officially as of Nov. 4th 2008... Democrats control both the house and senate.


What this means?


Had John McCain been elected president he would of had 0 power. Any and all things he would have wanted to do potentially could have been blocked by congress. However, by congress having control over both congressional bodies, they would still be able to bypass the Presidential Veto of any policy they wanted passed due to the fact they maintain control over these bodies.


Now Barrack Obama is President-Elect. This means that any and all policies he wants will be passed due to his party control of congress. In other words, by voting Democrat, for either of the two positions known as senator or representative, you are saying you want to grant Obama complete and total control over the US.


Obama will not save America. All of Obama's policies are terrible. His policies include such things as raising taxes across the board. Most of you will reply with nu-uh he only wants to tax those making 250k a year. WRONG that is just one of his 12 different tax increases, and only effects federal income tax. Obama wants to increase the tax on business's making 100k (maybe 150k now) a year or more to 38%. This is the size of a small business with 5 employees and double what they currently pay. As well he wants to penalize any business that does not supply health care to their employees with a reoccurring penalty every quarter for each employee.


These 2 things alone will cripple the American economy. One will see loss of jobs, one will see decrease in salaries, one will see HMO health cares boom.


If you do not know what an HMO is its basically a type of health insurance that is super cheap but deny you on every claim. Please watch the movie John Q to learn more on this matter.


So to you that keep going OMG WE WON OMG OMG OMG i would just like to say congratulations on not informing yourself before making a crucial decision. The next few years promised to be fueled with poverty, anger, hate, hunger, unemployment, and a ever quicker collapsing economy and social standard is exactly what you deserve.



I am proud to say i voted for the first African American President-Elect. How ever i voted republican for my senator and representative.


On a side note.


For those of you living in Delaware and voted for Biden for senator congratulations on your up most stupidity. Since Biden has been elected Vice President, Ruth Anne Minner gets to decide who she wants to make senator. Since she did not run again for governor she is eligible to chose her self and most likely will do so. Her reign of terror is far from over in Delaware. THANKS.

This is the letter i sent to every person in my e-mail list. I could go into further explanation but i feel i have touched briefly on all the important parts.

To the admins and mods i don't see why this should be a problem as long as people keep there opinions about this post in this post. I am not trying to encourage debate and/or flaming but yet stimulate intellectual thought in the minds of our members, specificly those ill informed and/or uninformed. But if you feel the need to delete by all means do as you must.

You do make some valid points. I do agree with a bit of what you said. However, you're assuming that all democrats think alike, and that all republicans think alike. Sure there is a "black" and a "white" in ideals. However, there are also shades of grey. Want an example? How about the number of non-african american republicans who voted for Obama over McCain?

Honestly, I couldn't care less about race. Cool, we have a Black president now. However he could be white, black, chinese, japanese, indian, puerto-rican, etc and I would've still voted for him. Why? Because even though I disagreed with some of his policies, I disagreed more with McCain's policies.

You stated that you voted for Obama, correct? Why did you? I hope it wasn't because he is black. If it was, then you are exactly the type of person you are talking about in your post. If you aren't then you're obviously someone who falls into the "politically grey" area that I previously mentioned.

i think Obama has potential to do good if there was more checks and balances in the system to prevent from all his politics to go through. McCain would of been a dead horse president. Thats why i voted for Obama, and considering i view my personal opinions (which i have yet really to divulge) as a revolutionist i feel Obama has the most chance at either damaging or changing our global social standard, money.

On another note 92% of all Bush policies no matter how terrible *cough* patriot act *cough* were supported by republicans just because of the party affiliation.

But Barack Obama's complete and total control of all his policies scares me. He could and probaly will do what ever he wants, with the undieing support of the Congress and Senate.
But only time will tell.

I, for one, am taking a wait and see approach to this new President. The economy is already in the toilet and I can't see how Obama could make anything get too much worse in the near future. I think that 2010 will tell us the story.

Well its official before even setting foot in to his new position as president, Obama by merely getting elected has made history.

I'm not gonna pretend I know alot about politics, but that could have something to do with the economy sucking right now anyways.

And in your main post about if McCain was president the House and Senate could still override vetos, I don't think it would be possible. If I remember correctly it requires 2/3 to override, and like someone said earlier about "shades of grey" it's true. There is barely a Democratic Majority, not enough to override veto's if any at all.

But all that is beside the point because Barack did win.

Over night trading is still going down down down. the stockmarket will open low tomorrow peak in the positive between noon and 2 then crash down again. then again this just my prediciton.

Honestly, this has less to do with who our president elect is, and more to do with the fact that the WORLD fears, and has been fearing for a few months, a global recession.

Even if McCain won, we'd still be in this exact same situation.
