I kinda agree with KuRIoS's view on things.

Number killed in attack on New York, in the Twin Towers and in aircraft that crashed into them: 2,823

Documented civilian deaths from violence in Iraq: 87,387 - 95,373

    What about their remembrance?

I'm an atheist, and also an American.

Kbeeuts, Iraq is another country, very far away from us. Why should we care more about an attack on that country than for an attack that was carried out on our soil?

If someone living in France heard about 9/11, they probably wouldn't care. If some political group planted a bomb in the Eiffel Tower, destroyed it, and killed 2000 people with it, I think they'd care about that much, much more than 9/11.

Tons of innocent people are killed every day all around in the world. It's not to say that people shouldn't care about these things, but people will definitely remember bad events that happened in their own country much more vividly than they will events that have happened in different countries, especially ones on different continents and even different hemispheres.

No we shouldnt care more about an attack on our country then thousands of people dying somewhere else. people are people and americans are no better then africans who are dyig ever day or children and women in iraq dying. 3 thousand + people died on sept 11 but thats nothing compared to darfur or iraq

I disagree , if america just would of went into war with iraq with no justification then the rest of the world would hate/not trust U.S ..

The thing is that while in essence you are right, a country is going to remember major events that happened on their own soil over events that happened in some faraway land. That's just how it works.

(This is not a flame war thread. If you have nothing good to post don't post it at all.)
If you ever wondered about the general age / maturity level around here, the inability to have either the personal integrity or respect for others to follow this very simple request should be a great indicator.

I think all Americans can agree that invading Iraq was a mistake. But Afghanistan was well justified (most would agree if your anti-conspiracy). Look on the bright side, lots of smaller countries don't like to Brits because of Tony Blair, same goes for Bush.

Tony Blair is the United Kingdom as George Bush is to the United States. McCain '08!

P.S. - Your nothing like the real McCain, McCain.
