Reputation vs. recommendations.

I just noticed, there is a +rep button, by golly its amazing right?
But clicking a button would not increase your reputation, it's recommendations that increase it. So if there was a good recommendation, that would increse your reputation, adding reputation shouldn't be witheld threw a button, it needs a recommendation, or a good word too increase reputation...
So.
Is the rep button really needed, can't we have like, how many "recommendations" you have had, because I can't have 1323 reputations, that is just silly. If I have many recommendations, like 1323; I would have good reputation.
So.
That is just my thoughts..
What is your idea on it?

You're saying that Recomendations = Reputation BUT Reputation DOESn't = Recomendations.
