How do you create avatars? and what is so usefull about making sigs, i noticed since your post about your second day using photoshop, i starting to use it now also, what can making sigs be used for really? like if you make alot of them?

heh, it's called a hobby bud. Signatures are a type of art form, a digital art form. They can be used for basically sentimental purposes, or more like a representation of the person. If you make a alot of signatures, and get really good, you can open up a shop to help us out. If you really like doing it, then you can move on to bigger and better things. - I Make my avatars from Marick626's post about blizzard like avatars, you should check it out.
